International Comparative Studies on the Software Testing Profession

This work attempts to fill a gap by exploring the human dimension in particular, trying understand motivation of software professionals for taking up and sustaining their careers as testers. Towards that goal, four surveys were conducted countries—India, Canada, Cuba, China—to try how professional engineers perceive value work-related factors could influence start or move into testing careers. From our sample 220 professionals, we observed very few keen take Some aspects testing, such potential learning opportunities importance job, appear be common motivators across countries, whereas treatment testers second-class citizens complexity job appeared most prominent de-motivators.
